If we can patch packages to work with v3 then I think this sounds good.
I was worried that we may not be able to do that, and some upstreams
seems to be stuck on v2.  Let's try.  I suppose this effort is stuck
until golang-github-lestrrat-go-dsig leaves NEW though?

I had a local v3.0.12 variant working, I'll diff your branch against it
and see if I'm able to build your v3.  I pushed a small tweak for a v5
watch file.
