Hi,
It seems that over the years I have taken over maintenance for
too many packages and I cannot really give all of them the care
that they deserve. Thus, I request an adopter for the dante package.
The package description is:
Dante is a circuit-level firewall/proxy that can be used to provide
convenient and secure network connectivity to a wide range of hosts
while requiring only the server Dante runs on to have external network
connectivity.
.
This package provides the "socksify" client program - a tool which
forwards network requests from any program to a SOCKS server (v4 or v5)
which then performs them on your behalf.
There is a MR for an update to the latest upstream version at
https://gitlab.com/dante/pkg-debian-full/-/merge_requests/2
Peter,
Thanks for the previous work you've done on dante! I need this
package, and it is sufficiently slow-moving that I don't see a
problem maintaining it.
For reference, I've been running my MR in production since at
least pushing it to salsa. Once I figure out the debian package
adoption process, I'll rebuild the package and look for a
sponsor.
As for the salsa repository, I'd be happy to take a maintainer
role in it. I am also a maintainer of kcollectd, and work closely
with Andrej Shadura maintaining matrix-synapse. Perhaps
following up on those references would make you feel more
comfortable about giving me that role in the salsa repository.
Best,
Antonio
