Thanks fo your report. I could reproduce it, but I don't have an
explanation for it. On a current unstable system the bug is not
reproducible, on sarge (or with the inkscape version from sarge compiled
on unstable) I get the same behaviour as you describe.
In version 0.42-1 and upwards I can't see the bug.

So the conclusion from my tests is that this bug must have been fixed on
the way from the version in sarge to 0.42.

So sorry, I can't help you here, but I'll backport the new version
currently in unstable and notify you if I get it done.
