Thank you, that did get my system back in a working state. I don't think it addresses the root cause though. Unattended updates removing user selected packages - or whatever default install time packages are called - because some package is bad seems very wrong. Is that something you can help look into as well? I'll admit ignorance with all of this space but can gladly help provide more diagnostics from my system if helpful. Thank a lot, Antoine
