Package: distribution-gpg-keys Version: 1.115+ds Severity: normal Hello,
In Debian, we have long used the “gpg” name to refer to modern-day-OpenPGP (having migrated from old-school “pgp” around two decades ago). However, “gpg” refers to a specific implementation (GnuPG) — and particularly, an implementation that has decided to steer away from the OpenPGP standardization work. Nowadays we have several interoperable OpenPGP implementations. And while this project is named upstream “distribution-gpg-keys”, I request you consider renaming the Debian package name to “distribution-openpgp-keys”, to better reflect the nature of its contents. Thanks! – Gunnar. -- System Information: Debian Release: forky/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.16.10+deb14-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled --
