The acpi-override package causes update-initramfs to crash if the /var/lib/acpi-override/ directory is empty. This issue is tracked in Ubuntu Launchpad as bug #1892035. The attached patch resolves this by adding a conditional check to ensure the directory is populated before attempting the copy operation, and I have verified this fix via a rebuild on Ubuntu Noble (arm64) and have also confirmed it successfully repairs a broken installation on Debian Sid (arm64).
