Package: clamav-freshclam
Version: 0.88.2-1
Severity: wishlist
Please add a download progress bar option for 'freshclam'.
At present when downloading an update, all 'freshclam' or even
'freshclam -v' shows is an ASCII spinner which doesn't tell how much
time the download will take, nor how far along it is. On a modem a
full update can cause needless suspense for users worried if their
files are infected.
Note for curious users, the size of the file being updated is:
wc -c < /var/lib/clamav/main.cvd
4978654
...about 5 megs, so if your modem does 4 or 5K/second it would take
about 16-21 minutes.
Hope this helps...
