I'd prefer a debian/libmad0.symbols file over the override_dh_makeshlibs
hack in debian/rules, but that's probably just personal taste.
Looks good to me! As long as every change is properly documented in the
GIT commit message, directly pushing to the master branch should be fine
for a team-maintained package likt this.
