Hi,

I was also playing with hplip a while ago, adding my feedback to

#1076032: hplip: Please package new upstream version (3.24.4)

I tried to follow "official" way to upgrade, but found some thing I did not
like with upstream branches (see #1076032 for the details).

I pushed my tests to a personal git repo at

https://salsa.debian.org/agmartin/hplip.v2

Recently I have redone everything using a custom uscan update script to get
and repack upstream sources. For those curious see this other repo

https://salsa.debian.org/agmartin/hplip-v-2-my-get-orig-source.git

Just a few days ago I mailed Thorsten about this last repo, in case he
considers it useful.

I have been putting resulting packages at

https://people.debian.org/~agmartin/debian-store/experimental

now based in last repo. I did not plan a NMU from first repo because of the
issues with upstream branches. I also did not plan a NMU from second repo
because I find base change to require maintainer blessings. Just added them
in case they are useful, including all changes I consider relevant (see
changelog).

I also did not go beyond 3.24.4 for simplicity.

Regards,
