Package: gnome-software
Version: 1:49.0-1furios1+git20251009023839.6b9ac6e.forky.production

after disabling automatic updates, a pop-up occurs at every boot saying
"updates are out of date". i don't know why it's trying to check for updates
when i told it not to do that. i just want this thing to stop bothering me and
interrupting my work.

this pesky bug has been annoying me almost daily for 6+ months.

i finally disabled the app by renaming the executable, so whatever is calling
it can't find it.

upon checking the issues page at gitlab for this software, the only thing i
found about this is a mild complaint that the notification is vague. so it
looks like their solution is to say "software updates are out of date" which is
just as meaningless and now more redundant.

that's not the kind of reaction i have. my reaction is that the notification
makes no sense, but moreover, why is it bothering me about updates when i told
it to stop?! i didn't install this program. it came pre-installed on my phone.
i went in and disabled automatic updates. i don't want this thing bothering me.
i can update when i want through the console.

when automatic updates are turned off, it should not send a notification that
it has not been updated. that is diametrically opposed to the user's explicit
instruction.
