sfftobmp allows converting "Structured Fax Files" to a format other
tools can read (despite the name, it can also output PBM, JPG or TIFF).
As far as I'm aware, it's the only package in Debian which can convert
these files (sffview can display them but that is in a similar position
and I'm intending to RM that too).

I've never actually have a need to read SFF files myself - I adopted the
package in 2011 after QA uploading it during a wxWidgets transition,
mostly because upstream was particular helpful and it seemed low effort
to maintain.

Upstream has since archived their SFF projects. It feels unhelpful to
remove the only packages which can read a format, but fax is a long
obsolete technology and the popcon graph reflects that - from a high of
~180 we're down to 11 installs, all old (and one is me, and I don't
actually use it):

If someone's keen to step in and maintain it, I've no objections (it
just seems very unlikely anyone actually has a need for this now).

Cheers,
    Olly
