Hi Gustavo,

I would be interested in helping with gifshuffle, following the Package
Salvaging procedure outlined in the Developers Reference[1]. From what
I can see, gifshuffle appears to meet the criteria for this process: the
package has not been updated in nearly ten years, and I believe it still
has value and deserves some care. I also filed bug #1128647 recently,
which admittedly did not remain open for long.

My goal is simply to bring the package into team maintenance under Git
and ensure it continues to be available and well-maintained in Debian -
not to claim ownership or sideline anyone. Should you wish to remain
involved in any capacity, that would of course be very welcome.

I trust you will see this salvage process for what it is: a well-meant
and procedurally sound offer to help, fully in the spirit of Debian's
collaborative culture.

I also admit that the package is not really about the images itself so
my choive for a repository inside the Debian Phototools team[2] was
rather motivated by the idea where to find the experts. If you choose
not to accept the ITS or think the Debian team is a better place, I'd be
more than happy to help you move it to another location, such as
debian/, or wherever you prefer. My goal is to make it as easy as
possible for you to join the team. I'd also be delighted to assist in
adding you as a team member if you could share your Salsa login.

BTW, I've also added some autopkgtest to prove the functionality of the
package on one habe as well as providing users with some usage example.

This package was highlighted in the Bug of the Day[3] initiative, which
aims to introduce newcomers to manageable tasks and guide them through
the workflow to solve them. The focus of this initiative is on migrating
packages to Salsa, as it's a great way to help newcomers become familiar
with a consistent Git-based workflow.

Kind regards
    Andreas.
