You need to share more information about your setup. ip addresses, routing tables, configurations (of course no key material).

When I check via the dnsleak website, it's the connection provider and its DNS
that are presented, and not the IP address and DNS of the VPN.

Since now DNS is immediately in the question, elaborate more about your DNS setup.

Firewall is configured as trusted for wifi connection and for tun0 connection.

Same for firewall.

This report is also sadly missing information about what "connect" means.

It would maybe help to use structured debugging, working from the lower levels of the OSI model upwards. First ping ip addresses, then dns names before trying application protocols. Use tcpdump to find out which packet is going where.

Without additional information, this is non-actionable by the pacakge maintianers, and I personally suspect that this is not a bug report but instead a support case.
