Thank you very much. I was looking at applying it directly upstream and it looks like mingw64 does not yet provide libxml++-5.0. I have filed https://github.com/msys2/MINGW-packages/issues/28360.
But I'll try to upload it to Debian regardless. Not the first time we had to carry a patch. I have confirmed that it works as expected.
