It is aimed at installations built around mPort interfaces, sensors, and controllable power devices managed by the mFi system. . The library talks to the mFi controller over its HTTP or HTTPS interface using controller credentials. Through that controller, it accesses information about connected entities such as mPort hardware, sensors, relay outputs, digital inputs, and mPower outlets. It can also request state changes for controllable devices, for example switching outputs or outlets on and off. This library is a dependancy of Home Assistant, the Python smart home platform. I plan to maintain it as part of the Home Assistant team.
