Package: debian-installer
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

a few years ago, I was able to customize boot of the grml rescue system
with a hex editor on the iso because the maintainer left some padding
inside an isolinux configuration file.

Please consider doing so as well for the Debian installer, most notably
the txt.cfg file. by adding two lines of #, it MIGHT be possible to add
simple boot options for the installer (such as an auto preseed=foo
string, for example) with a hex editor without having to actually
remaster the .iso.

Adding a unique string that could easily be found would also be nice, so
I would suggest adding something like

########################################################################
####### this is txt.cfg, apply binary patch here #######################
########################################################################

to txt.cfg any possible other isolinux files would be great. Of course,
it isolinux or some other tools that are in use here use a different
comment character, that character could be used.

Thanks for your consideration!

Greetings
Marc
