I have had to disable all git-browser functionality on The ZAP Group Australia's website, at least temporarily: that particular portion of the site was being hammered by bots distributed all over the world. These bots did not indicate themselves as such and completely ignored robots.txt. I was seeing up to half a million accesses per day! I plan to submit an updated package for Star Traders once I finalise the Ukrainian translation, at which time I will remove or amend the Vcs-Browser field from debian/control.
