Package: yt-dlp
Version: 2026.03.17-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when trying to grab a video off of facebook, yt-dlp auto-detected the
filename should be
"58K views · 1.2K reactions | Got something weighing you down? Shake
it off (like Curiosity)! The Martian explorer unintentionally picked
up a rock while drilling a recent sample, but the team was able to
dislodge it by having the rover move its robotic arm and vibrate the
drill until the rock fell off. | NASA Mars
[1411954174302466].mp4.part"
which turns out to be too long of a filename for my filesystem.

(using the -o flag download & wrote the video just fine)

programs going back to at least the DOS days have been smart enough to know that
"if the filename is too long to write...write a shorter one". yt-dlp
should, imho,
handle this case automatically.
