Hm, what is this supposed to reveal? The search returns 14 pages. What do want me to look at here? Is the bug maybe your assumption every file below debian/ is used in package building? The files are clearly marked: they sit in a directory old/ and carry a YYYYMMDD timestamp. I may add a .gitgnore and and git rm when I get around to ot.
