In the Bitcoin mining context, a "work" represents a block that isn’t valid yet for the network and the goal is to tweak this work until you get a valid Bitcoin block. Due to how blockchains work in general, you must have work based on the tip of the blockchain. If it’s not the case, you are going to just waste your energy because your block will never be accepted by the network. > What exactly is passed? On wikipedia, the term "ressources" is used, I could > not find out what "workers" are. I don't assume these are actual persons. Workers are simply computers specifically designed for mining bitcoins (also called ASICs or miners). For this Debconf template I have changed the sentence to "Pass workers usernames to the pool?" to be clearer. Léo.
