Package: bash-completion
Version: 1:2.16.0-8
Severity: normal
Forwarded: https://github.com/scop/bash-completion/pull/1639

Hi!

I'd like to take over the dpkg bash-completions into dpkg upstream,
I've submitted the above PR upstream for which I had created a related
issue some time ago, to be able to unblock this.

Ideally I'd include this in the next dpkg release (1.23.8), so this
report is mainly for coordination purposes and to give a heads-up.

I'll be adding Replaces, where ideally I'd like to know the version
that will either drop the dpkg files from bash-completion or rename
them as upstream. Given that in the Debian context dpkg is essential,
dropping the files from bash-completion should not be a major concern,
except that ideally bash-completions would then include a version
dependency on dpkg, alternatively doing the rename as the above PR
would avoid the need for a versioned dependency.

Once the completions transfer is done, I'll either close the
bash-completion reports related to dpkg if they are fixed or reassign
them.

Thanks,
Guillem
