jftr, Debian doesn't need to (and sometimes can't) be compatible with
packages outside of Debian, although this genereally is a rare case and
should always be avoided if possible.
Please split the package and put development files into -dev
The reason for not splitting it in the first place is that by ftp-master
policy (at the time dnsjit was uploaded first in Debian), this was
considered micropackaging (the amount of *.h files is not much to
warrant splitting it out in an extra binary packages, which has
considerable impact on Debians infrastructure).
However, since 2021 a bunch of things changed/improved, so, we can
introduce a sepearte package for that.
