Well, the problem is that the upstream code should not be merged with
the Debian packaging[1]. This is why packaging on Salsa should be
prefered.

As long as you simply work on the ifupdown2 upstream code there should
be no conflict at all.

Cool. I guess Fabian will grant you push permissions to cooperate
