Thanks for getting back to me!

One thing you want me want to do is create a Debian package
repository. There are a bunch of ways to do this and resources but
this page has links to a number:

https://wiki.debian.org/DebianRepository/Setup

This way you can have people just install your gpg key and add new
source list with your repository and they can then always get the
latest version from you.

There are still benefits to having the package uploaded directly
into Debian (i.e., people don't have to do that dance) but if you
expect to have a range of Debian users, people many may prefer
getting your software directly from the source.

In terms of your package, I'll take a look but I'm pretty slammed
right now with work. If somebody else is reading this and wants to
take a look first, that'd be totally fine with me.
