Hi A fix with a much smaller footprint was identified. Constraining the dependencies to what (already) was admitted to Debian just prior to the RC bug filed in December 2025 i) allows to build `ruby-chef-utils` by `dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -sa` and ii) local lintian does not report an error. Subsequently signed, it was uploaded to the mentors page.
Any update then is then entrusted again the package's usual maintainers -- and the aim «NMU == minimal edits» should be met. Best regards, Norwid
