Package: qemu-system-x86 Version: 1:11.0.1+ds-1 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]
qemu-system-x86_64 defaults to a memory size of 128 MB for as long as I can remember. This is however not even enough to load a current Debian shipped Linux kernel. It then fails with weird error messages, but no clear indication what is wrong. For example with Linux: | EFI stub: ERROR: Failed to decompress kernel | EFI stub: ERROR: efi_stub_entry() failed! | BdsDxe: failed to load Boot0001 "UEFI Non-Block Boot Device" from VenMedia(1428F772-B64A-441E-B8C3-9EBDD7F893C7): Not Found Don't you think it would be useful to raise this value somewhat, so at least we can get more useful error indications? -- System Information: Debian Release: forky/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (700, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 7.0.9+deb14-amd64 (SMP w/16 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages qemu-system-x86 depends on: ii ipxe-qemu 2.0.0+dfsg-5 ii libaio1t64 0.3.113-9 ii libbpf1 1:1.7.0-1 ii libc6 2.42-16 ii libcapstone5 5.0.7-2 ii libfdt1 1.7.2-2+b2 ii libfuse3-4 3.18.2-2 ii libglib2.0-0t64 2.88.1-2 ii libgnutls30t64 3.8.13-1 ii libibverbs1 61.0-2 ii libjpeg62-turbo 1:3.1.3-4 ii libnuma1 2.0.19-1+b2 ii libpixman-1-0 0.46.4-1+b2 ii libpmem1 1.13.1-1.1+b1 ii libpng16-16t64 1.6.58-1 ii librdmacm1t64 61.0-2 ii libsasl2-2 2.1.28+dfsg1-11 ii libseccomp2 2.6.0-2+b1 ii libslirp0 4.9.3-1 ii libudev1 260.1-1 ii liburing2 2.14-1 ii libvdeplug2t64 4.0.1-5.1+b2 ii libzstd1 1.5.7+dfsg-3+b2 ii qemu-system-common 1:11.0.1+ds-1 ii qemu-system-data 1:11.0.1+ds-1 ii seabios 1.17.0-1 ii zlib1g 1:1.3.dfsg+really1.3.2-3 Versions of packages qemu-system-x86 recommends: ii ovmf 2025.02-9 pn qemu-block-extra <none> ii qemu-system-gui 1:11.0.1+ds-1 ii qemu-system-modules-opengl 1:11.0.1+ds-1 ii qemu-system-modules-spice 1:11.0.1+ds-1 ii qemu-utils 1:11.0.1+ds-1 Versions of packages qemu-system-x86 suggests: ii passt 0.0~git20260526.038c51e-1 pn samba <none> pn vde2 <none> -- no debconf information
