I realise that the original focus of this bug report - upgrading fonts-font-awesome - has become intertwined with questions of the DFSG status of the fonts. So I'm splitting this into two separate bug reports. My plan is to upgrade the package, as requested originally, and close the original bug with that (#902981), leaving the DFSG question in a separate, open bug report. Best wishes, Julian
