The Debian archive doesn't seem to care about this, at present. But itIt actually does, that's why the build daemons use the --dpkg-file-suffix of sbuild to rename the .changes and .buildinfo files.
Ooh, I'd missed that option. Of course it can only take a single suffix, so in this use-case (producing both a source-only upload and a mixed upload) it can't do the right thing for both.
