Please note, that such a change must not be backported to bookworm or
older. If you intend to provide such backports, these changes must be
reverted for those releases. If this means an undue burden on your
workflow our recommendation is to postpone this cleanup.

Re: Michael Biebl
attached is a patch which should address this issue.

Hi Michael,

bullseye is EOL in a few weeks, but bookworm is still there for a few
years. I would like to keep this pattern until the last release
without merged usr is out of support.

        # move unit files to /usr on systems that support it
        if test -x /usr/bin/dh_movetousr; then dh_movetousr; fi

Or does your original warning no longer apply?

The remarks regarding bookworm backports still apply.

Sorry, I only checked tracker.d.org but not the bug tracker, so I missed your earlier reply. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered you with this patch.

Don't worry, we don't want to make this unnecessarily unpleasant for maintainers, so dh_movetousr will remain as long as it is useful/sensible.

For most packages, backporting to bookworm is not an issue though, which is why I started to attach patches to hopefully get some progress.

Regards,
Michael
