I assume the reason you do not understand how things got to this point is that you have not had a look at the request for help for this package, <URL: https://bugs.debian.org/1070855 >. Upstream was maintaining the Debian package but seem to have decided to not do so any more. Several people, myself inclued, have tried to pick up the slack after this, but none so far has had the required knowledge of both Go, Python and eBPF to be able to make a working Debian package of newer releases. Those that try tend to gather on the #opensnitch IRC channel on irc.debian.org. A new volunteer recently appeared, and I hope he will be able to make more progress than I have. :) -- Happy hacking Petter Reinholdtsen
