Hi Simon,
vanessa-logger is using debhelper compat version 7 which is considered
deprecated. It would be great if you would upgrade to some more modern
compat version. When doing so it would be great if you would consider
maintenance in Debian team on Salsa. If you agree I would happily lend
a helping hand in doing so.
