Just a thought. While reading this bug report I was immediately thinking of a baseline violation (which is an RC issue). But I understand that go packages like this only ship source, so I can hardly claim it's a baseline violation in *this* package, but I suspect it might be a baseline violation in packages that build using this source. (I haven't investigated how this code is used).
