It seems that simply bumping the dependencies in the control file to v3.14 and
fixing accordingly the postinst script - which invokes py3compile/pypy3compile
with a -V <version> parameter - produces a package installable and working.
Tested by modifying the virtualbox binary package currently in unstable after I
noticed that the package currently available in the Ubuntu stonking repo
depends against Python 3.14 while having no differences in the changelog.
Modified packages are available upon request for those willing to test them.
