It is forked from SDDM with stronger integration with KDE Plasma. . Theming is very powerfull and easy, as you can use QML. For years KDE were active in SDDM and put all effort into that login manager. The last years the SDDM get less and less reactive with a lot patches laying around. What I recocniced there were a lot of effort in not fork SDDM and fix the underlying reponsivness. plasma-login-manager will be useful for Plasma Desktop environment and will be a login manager that is wayland only. It will be packaged within the Qt/KDE Maintainer team.
