Starting with dpkg-dev 1.23.8 the output is like this:
$ dpkg-source --version | head -1
dpkg-source version 1.23.11
With earlier versions the output is like this:
$ dpkg-source --version | head -1
Debian dpkg-source version 1.22.22.
