Is this about nm-applet or nm-connection-editor? You mention nm-applet here but filed it against nm-connection-editor.
I do consideer this a bug: merely having another pakcage installed should not make this package malfunction (even if it is clearly a related package), especially since users might not have any influence on the packages installed, or the package (as in my case) was pulled in as an optional dependency.
Which desktop environment are you using?Which component provides the org.freedesktop.Secrets API? Use d-feet/d-spy to find out.
Why was gnome-keyring not running? It is D-Bus activated, so started on demand. Have you manually edited something which would prevent the start of gnome-keyring?
