Subject: Please update avrdude to the latest upstream version 8.3
Dear Maintainer,
please consider updating the Debian avrdude package to the latest
upstream release, version 8.3.
The current Debian package is still at version 7.1+dfsg-4, while
upstream has released avrdude 8.3 on September 11, 2026.
AVRDUDE is actively maintained upstream, and newer releases contain bug
fixes, improvements, and support for newer AVR programming hardware and
microcontrollers.
For users working with current AVR devices, having an up-to-date version
available through the Debian repositories would be very helpful.
Could you please consider packaging and uploading the latest upstream
release, avrdude 8.3, for Debian?
