As a workaround, you can start firefox with the environment variable MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO set to 1. I'm not going to reassign the bug the libcairo as I did for the previous one so that it is kept for record that this problem exists in firefox, maybe other people hitting the bug will find out about this bug report and the workaround.
