I am looking for a sponsor for the package "scala", a team package of the Debian Java Maintainers. * Package name : scala Version : 2.12.21+ds3-1 Upstream contact : Scala team <[email protected]> * URL : https://www.scala-lang.org * License : Apache-2.0, BSD-3-clause * Vcs : https://salsa.debian.org/java-team/scala Section : devel The source builds the following binary packages: scala - compiler and tools for the Scala programming language scala-library - Scala standard library The package is on the branch bump-2.12 of https://salsa.debian.org/mendezr/scala, as merge request https://salsa.debian.org/java-team/scala/-/merge_requests/2 Changes since the last upload: * Scala 2.11.12 to 2.12.21, built without sbt by a two-pass self-hosting build. 2.11 is retired (scala-asm 9.x is already in unstable). * Fixes the migration problem of https://bugs.debian.org/1142168 (scala and scala-asm leave testing on 2026-10-26 otherwise). * No prebuilt binary in the source. Scala 2.12 can only be compiled by a Scala 2.12 compiler, so the first upload is built once with the pkg.scala.stage0 profile from upstream's own pinned STARR (2.12.21-M2); debian/README.source gives provenance, checksums and the recipe. Later uploads are source-only and self-host from the archive. The package is not NEW.
