* Package name : fonts-codicons Version : 0.0.46-42 Upstream Author : Microsoft Corporation * URL : https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-codicons * License : CC-BY-4.0 (icons and font), MIT (build scripts) Programming Lang: (font; SVG icon sources) Description : icon font used by Visual Studio Code This is the publishing channel for the Visual Studio Code icon font: the microsoft/vscode-codicons repository is released to npm as @vscode/codicons, and VS Code's "gulp copy-codicons" step copies dist/codicon.ttf into src/vs/base/browser/ui/codicons/codicon/, from where it is shipped as part of monaco-editor-core. The .ttf is not in VS Code's git tree. The font is the only thing from this package that monaco needs - the CSS and the generated codiconsLibrary.ts already live in the VS Code tree. The binary package installs a single file, /usr/share/fonts/truetype/codicons/codicon.ttf (150 KB). It is named fonts-codicons rather than node-vscode-codicons because lintian requires fonts to live in a dedicated fonts-* package and under /usr/share/fonts/ (font-in-non-font-package, font-outside-font-dir); fonts-font-awesome is the precedent. The copyright file will carry two stanzas, CC-BY-4.0 for the icons and the font and MIT for the build scripts. The font is rebuilt from the 655 SVG icon sources shipped in the source package, using python3-fonttools and python3-yaml, following the fonts-font-awesome recipe - upstream's own toolchain is fantasticon, which is not in Debian. The rebuilt font matches upstream on all 655 code points, on the metrics (UPM 300, ascent 300, descent 0) and on the advance widths; glyph outlines differ by at most 9 units (3% of the UPM), so it is not byte-identical. That will be documented in debian/README.source. Two version notes: snapshots older than 0.0.46-40 are missing 9 glyphs, so consumers will carry a lower bound in their Build-Depends; and code points are only ever added, never removed, so a newer snapshot than the one VS Code pins is safe. I need it as a build-dependency of node-monaco-editor-core, which I am packaging (monaco-editor 0.57.0). Thanks, Emfox
