Package: libreoffice Version: 4:26.8.1.1-2 Severity: normal I received some paperwork to complete, and pressed enter on the attachement in mutt, which launched libreoffice.
Fully 4 hours of work later, I clicked save in libreoffice for the last time and exited libreoffice. Then mutt deleted the modified temporary file and 4 hours of my work. I looked at mutt's manual, and it says it runs view commands from mailcap files on attachments that are written to temporary files. So it makes sense why it would delete the temp file at the end; the view(1) command only allows displaying it, so there can be no user modificatins to lose. But, `see foo.xslx` opens it in libreoffice, and not as a read-only viewer. Now, libreoffice does keep its own backup of such modified files in .etc/.config/libreoffice/4/user/backup/. So I did not lose my data. But the average user probably *would* lose their data in this situation. And I don't think this is limited to mutt either, any mail reader might behave this way. I don't think that libreoffice should be registered in /etc/mailcap in a way that makes `see` run it as an editor. The simple fix is to make the mailcap use "libreoffice --view". -- see shy jo
