Yep :-)

Yeah, when found the API documentation generation changed, that's when I
looked at the API and wondered "who needs that?". I guess your description
is accurate, but I guess 'regular' users won't miss that not being there.

I had expected that Debian would either 'not take a stance' (which I thought
was the most likely outcome) or hopefully take a (strong) stance against it.
That it took the most pro-AI option possible, even worse then the Linux kernel,
came as a complete surprise and which I find extremely disappointing :-(

"Responsible use" is a contradictio in terminis and an absolute joke.
And a lie. Some people will read or pretend to read it the first few times
and after that just submit whatever AI-slop is generated.
The people who wrote that should take a "(Human) Psychology 101" course.

It's not that I couldn't make the backport to 1.5 work ... if I was motivated
enough. But my motivation for trying it in the first place was for upstream
to make the 1.5 backport ... which they clearly said they wouldn't.
Which would make the whole endeavor a lot of work ... and futile.

So what I'm working on now is making a version/release based upon 1.6.870 (ie
their 'RC' version). Backporting the ZeroC-Ice-compat patches was easy.
Updating the Debian package for the 1.6.x version should be a bit more work.
But it's something I've done several times, including based on 'git HEAD'
before, for other packages. This also has the benefit that it's based on QT6.
So I'm much more motivated to work on that :-)

Cheers,
  Diederik
