Subject: python3-pigpio: recommends pigpio which is not in unstable
Package: python3-pigpio
Version: 1.78-1.1
Usertags: package-relations package-relations-recommends
Severity: normal

Dear maintainer(s),

I noticed that package python3-pigpio recommends pigpio, which is
not available in unstable. I don't think that a binary package named
pigpio has ever been in Debian.

I see that pigpio exists or used to exist in Raspbian (checking on a
Raspbian bookworm, I see that there is a transitional package named
pigpio with this depends: Depends: libpigpiod-if2-1 (= 1.79-1+rpt1),
libpigpiod-if1 (= 1.79-1+rpt1), libpigpiod-if-dev (= 1.79-1+rpt1),
pigpio-tools (= 1.79-1+rpt1), libpigpio1 (= 1.79-1+rpt1), libpigpio-dev
(= 1.79-1+rpt1), pigpiod (= 1.79-1+rpt1)
)

The Debian policy says that packages from main should recommend only
packages from main:
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#the-main-archive-area

So, in the Debian archive, I think that the recommends should not be
there, but I don't know if just dropped or replaced by something else.

I had a look at how python3-pigpio tries to interface with GPIO and I
don't see why pigpio would be needed, but I'm not an expert on those
packages.

Thank you for your time,
