Package: sponsorship-requests Severity: wishlist Dear mentors,
I am looking for a sponsor for my package "mintcam": * Package name : mintcam Version : 0.2.1-1 Upstream contact : Alex Mirici <[email protected]> * URL : https://github.com/jeaders/MintCam * License : MIT * Vcs : https://github.com/jeaders/MintCam.git Section : graphics The source builds the following binary packages: mintcam - webcam application for photo capture and video recording To access further information about this package, please visit the following URL: https://mentors.debian.net/package/mintcam/ Alternatively, you can download the package with 'dget' using this command: dget -x https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/m/mintcam/mintcam_0.2.1-1.dsc Changes since the last upload: mintcam (0.2.1-1) UNRELEASED; urgency=medium * Initial Debian packaging (Closes: #1150659) - built from the 0.2.1 upstream release, MIT licensed - PySide6/cv2/numpy/pyzbar/Pillow installed into a per-user virtualenv on first start; system dependencies are declared in Depends - the reasoning is documented in debian/README.source - Vcs fields added, debian/README.source explains the venv design Three points I would rather raise myself than have discovered during review: 1. Why a virtualenv and not the Python modules from the archive: the app needs PySide6, opencv, numpy, pyzbar and Pillow. PySide6 alone is split into many packages in the archive and I did not want to vendor several hundred megabytes of wheels. /usr/bin/mintcam creates a venv under ~/.local/share/mintcam/.venv on first start and pip installs the shipped requirements.txt into it. Anything that must come from the archive is in Depends: v4l-utils, ffmpeg, libxcb-cursor0, libzbar0, python3-venv, python3-pip. The trade-off is that the first run needs the network and takes a minute. If the archive modules are preferred, I will switch. 2. Non-native 3.0 (quilt) with a separate orig tarball, arch: all, and the only build dependency is debhelper-compat (= 13). 3. This is my first Debian package, so I expect a round of corrections. Regards, Alex Mirici <[email protected]>
