Package: sponsorship-requests Severity: wishlist Dear mentors,
I am looking for a sponsor for my package "mintcam". This is the second version, after Andrey Rakhmatullin closed the previous request because the package pip-installed its requirements into a per-user virtualenv on first start. That is fixed now, and this mail explains what changed. Package name : mintcam Version : 0.2.3-1 Upstream contact : Alex Mirici [email protected] URL : https://github.com/jeaders/MintCam License : MIT Vcs : https://github.com/jeaders/MintCam.git Section : graphics The source builds the following binary packages: mintcam - webcam application for photo capture and video recording To access further information about this package, please visit the following URL: https://mentors.debian.net/package/mintcam/ Alternatively, you can download the package with 'dget' using this command: dget -x https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/m/mintcam/mintcam_0.2.3-1.dsc Changes since the previous upload: mintcam (0.2.3-1) UNRELEASED; urgency=medium Initial Debian packaging (Closes: #1150659): webcam application, MIT, built from the 0.2.3 upstream release. Use the Python modules from the archive: python3-pyqt6, python3-opencv, python3-numpy, python3-pil, python3-pyzbar. The previous revision shipped requirements.txt and pip-installed it into a per-user virtualenv on first start, which cannot be accepted in Debian. The app was ported from PySide6 to PyQt6 for this reason; PySide6 is not packaged in Ubuntu. What changed, in detail: requirements.txt is no longer shipped in the package and no pip installation happens at any point. /usr/bin/mintcam execs python3 -m app.main in /usr/share/mintcam. The application used PySide6, which Debian does not package in a way that works here and Ubuntu does not package at all, so I ported it to PyQt6. The port is mechanical: imports, pyqtSignal/pyqtSlot, scoped enums (Qt.AlignmentFlag, QPalette.ColorRole, QImage.Format, QFrame.Shape, QSizePolicy.Policy, QSlider.TickPosition). Depends is now: python3 (>= 3.10), python3-pyqt6, python3-opencv, python3-numpy, python3-pil, python3-pyzbar, v4l-utils, ffmpeg, libxcb-cursor0, libzbar0. Nothing is downloaded at run time and every dependency is satisfied from the archive. lintian reports nothing on the source package and on the built binary. Tested on Ubuntu noble with the archive modules: the window builds, 74 frames are received from /dev/video0 at 640x480, and a three second recording writes a 320 KB mp4 through the system ffmpeg. The remaining question I expect is the amount of Qt pulled in by python3-pyqt6; it is a hard dependency because the whole UI is Qt. Regards, Alex Mirici [email protected]
