The REDIRECTION section in the bash help should mention that
the exec builtin can make redirections take effect for the
current shell. (e.g. 'exec &> /tmp/output.log' to redirect all stdout
and stderr for the remainder of the script to /tmp/output.log)

The attached file can go into debian/patches, and should be added to the
list of patches in debian/rules (I added it after man-net-redirections).
