Package: thunderbird
Version: 153.5.1esr (stable-security)

After upgrade from 140.12.0esr all (open)pgp keys are gone. I cannot encrypt any email. The dialog 'Tools->OpenPGP Key Manager' stays empty. Importing Keys from the thunderbird version before ist not possible. It throws the Error:
Importing the keys failed
TypeError: RNPLib.prepare_ffi is not a function

It may be the cause, because the RNP library was removed with 153.4.0 esr release in case of security issues.

What I tested, because I thought it could be a migration error:
1. Downloaded the 153.3.1 esr as tar.xz from the official thunderbird archive
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/153.3.1esr/

2. Unpacked it into a folder on my home folder and started it with my profile. Result: the keys there at 'OpenPGP Key Manager'.

3. Upgraded the official thunderbird version up to 153.5.1 esr and started it again. Result: the keys there at 'OpenPGP Key Manager'.

4. After that I startet the debian thunderbird 153.5.1 esr again. Result: the keys are gone at 'OpenPGP Key Manager'. No keys available. I cannot read my encrypted mails and I cannot import keys.

Looks like it is not a migration problem.

Is something missing in the debian thunderbird 153.5.1esr (stable-security) version?

I am on Debian 13 Trixie (stable): Linux fsx13g4 6.12.113+deb13-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.12.113-1 (2026-10-15) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Help is needed because I am using a mail server with pgp encrypted mails.

Thank you all.
Frank
