kmscon fails to cross build from source, because its build system fails to find zlib. More precisely, it fails to find a build architecture zlib. Apparently, zlib is both used during build as well as in the resulting software. Hence, the zlib dependency is needed twice (once for the build architecture and once for the host architecture).
