Package: mc Version: 4.6.1-3 I use ru_RU.KOI8-R encoding. mc has no problems with encoding in pannels (shows directories, files, date correctly ), but when editing or viewing files i see rubbish. Also, if i view file in Hex mode (press F4 to switch) it shows text correct! Problem disappeared when i downgraded mc to version from stable: 4.6.0-4.6.1-pre3-3sarge1.
I tried this on i386 and amd64 which installed from cdimages of etch made by July,11 (libc6: 2.3.6-15, kernel: 2.6.15) - same effect. We need our encodings. It's critical...
