It appears there are two items on this wish list. - user "motion" - init.d/motion
I am addressing only the latter. Enclosed is a candidate dpatch against 3.1.19( stable) sources: A few caveats:- changes to configure and Makefile.in may be suspect for non- Debian systems.
- Administrators must explicitly create the rc.*/[KS]..motion links.- I'm not too sure of the /etc/init.d/motion reload operation, restart works fine though. - it's not perfect, but it works. For instance, messages to the screen do not follow the guidelines.
